Medical Scribe is currently needed for Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays

Responsibilities of this position include collaborating with the physician, performing clerical and IT functions for the physician, operating the electronic health records (EHR), and anticipating the physician’s needs in a clinical setting

  • Responsibilities:
  • Prepares and assembles medical record documentation/charts for physician(s).
  • Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications and documenting medical procedures and visits as they are being performed by the physician.
  • Ensures medical record compliance by self-documentation attestation.
  • Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patient
  • Prepares and sends all documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures.
  • Monitors the duration of basic lab results and screening procedures.
  • Complies with hospital and medical facility policies, including those relating to HIPAA and Joint Commission.
  • Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned.
  • Preparing referral letters for the physician via dictation or a summary of the patient’s medical records.
  • Ensuring medical documentation is error-free, up-to-date, and signed by the attending physician.
  • Adding all clinical data, lab reports, and physician interpretations to the medical records and ensuring accuracy.
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of patient tracking systems.
  • Editing the physician’s medical documents for errors.
  • Adhering to all ethical, legal, and confidentiality requirements for preparing medical documents.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a medical field may be advantageous.
  • Compliance with HIPAA confidentiality standards.
  • An in-depth understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Experience with medical record software and hardware.
  • Excellent language and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Accurate and fast typing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, record-keeping, and reporting skills.
  • Individual should be discreet and tactful and display good judgment, attention to detail, and initiative.

We have a close relationship with local providers and treat a variety of orthopedic conditions.     Patient service
    • Provide positive, friendly, personal contact with patients and ensure a greeting and timely coordination of the patient and the clinician
    • Answer the telephone within 3 rings using a friendly/professional demeanor
    • Manage some patient scheduling
    • Prepare and enter all new patient registrations, meeting daily deadlines
    • Verify accurate patient insurance coverage and inform the patient/clinician
    • Obtain appropriate authorization for patient visits, track and stay current and communicate to the patient and clinician as needed.
    • Appropriately prepare and submit paperwork for patient billing
    • Collect co-payments as required
