  • Andy McMahon, DOThe most important aspect of treating sports and musculoskeletal injuries is identification of the underlying reason for the injury. By recognizing and correcting deficits in strength, flexibility, and the way we move our bodies, we heal quicker and we protect ourselves from future injuries. In my mind, education, motivation, and partnership with my patients are the keys to success.

New, nonsurgical treatment for Dupuytren’s Contracture

Dr. Eberhart now offers XIAFLEX treatment, a painless, non-surgical treatment for a common hand disorder that worsens over time and can cause deformity and loss of hand function in some patients.

Symptoms of Dupuytren’s Contracture include the presence of a painless nodule in the palm, which develops into a cord-like band. As the disorder progresses, the fingers curl up and are unable to be easily straightened.

Until recently, surgery was the only way to treat this often hereditary condition. A new medication called XIAFLEX offers a non-surgical alternative. XIAFLEX should be injected into the cord by a healthcare provider who is experienced in injection procedures of the hand and treating people with Dupuytren’s Contracture. XIAFLEX (the only FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment option) helps “break” the cord that is causing the finger to be bent.

Dr. Eberhart, our hand specialist, is fellowship trained in hand surgery.
